甦った亡霊集団・七人隊。その退治に現れた騎馬隊を全滅させたのは七人隊の二番手・蛇骨だった。蛇骨は駆けつけた犬夜叉や弥勒をひとめで気に入り、秋波を送る。怒った弥勒は風穴で吸い込もうとするが、蛇骨が四魂のかけらを持っていると見抜いたかごめが慌てて止めた。犬夜叉達は、かけらを仕込んだのは誰かと問い詰めるが、蛇骨は答えず、犬夜叉に勝負を挑む。蛇骨の蛇骨刀に翻弄される犬夜叉。その対決を謎の山伏（霧骨）が見つめていた。
English Summary:
The Band of Seven is foretold as mercenaries who slaughtered the warlords in the plains ten years past. However, the mercenaries were later beheaded by the soldiers in the mountains. Sango senses Kohaku in a forest nearby, only to recede, as the presence of Mukotsu, another member of the Band of Seven, is perceived. Meanwhile, Inuyasha is to fight another newly resurrected member of the Band of Seven, the unpredictable and deadly Jakotsu.
