火の国にたどり着いた犬夜叉たちは、山中の洞穴に巨大な門を発見する。それこそ、あの世とこの世の境へと通じる門だったが、門番の牛頭と馬頭が立ちふさがった。犬夜叉は結界破りの赤い鉄砕牙で門の鎖を砕き、扉を開くことに成功する。しかしそこへ現れた神楽が奈落の妖怪を引き連れ先乗りしてしまう。その時、開いた扉の奥から光が放たれた。光を浴びた妖怪たちは石像と化して死す。門を通れるのは死者のみ。犬夜叉たちは仕方なく諦める。白童子はそのことを知っていて、犬夜叉や神楽に確かめさせたのだ。
English Summary:
Inuyasha and his companions head toward the Mountain in the Realm of Fire, with the Saimyoushou leading them there. After entering a cave, they find Gozu and Mezu, the giant stone statues that guard the gate of the Netherworld. However, to pass through the gate, one must be deceased. Inuyasha seems vulnerable to the attacks from Gozu and Mezu. The only way to revert these two to stone is to force the gate open using the Wind Scar. Kagura quickly attempts to pass through, but her demon army becomes petrified by the blinding light beyond the gate. Gozu and Mezu close the gate and revert to stone. Kagome tells the rest of the group that there is a presence of the shard of the Shikon Jewel beyond the gate. Kagura returns to Hakudoshi, furious at him. Nevertheless, it is kept in mind that Hakudoshi is connected to Naraku, possessing her heart.
