弥勒の育ての親・夢心和尚が死ぬらしい。驚いた弥勒と犬夜叉たちは、冥土の土産にかなえようと、夢心の願いを聞き出す。すると、酒仙人が造る名酒『霞仙人』が飲めれば思い残すことはないという。弥勒たちは大変な目に遭いながらも、酒仙人から『霞仙人』をもらい、夢心に届ける。だが、死期が来たと思っていたのは夢心の勘違い。高僧神官連続殺人の犯人は、実は神楽。奈落の赤子が今際の際の僧たちの心の中を探って、あの世とこの世の境を覗き、最後の四魂のかけらの在処を捜していたのだ。夢心はその殺害リストからはずれていた。
English Summary:
There has been gossip that various clergy members have been murdered. Miroku is told that his master Mushin is in terrible health. Inuyasha and his companions must uphold Mushin's troublesome tasks. This includes cleaning the temple, ventilating the bedding, cutting the grass, doing the laundry, and going to an expensive restaurant. Mushin's last wish is to taste a rare sake made from fabled sages found on a sacred mountain peak. The poisonous mist of the mountain soon influences Inuyasha and his companions. Miroku returns to give Mushin the sake. Mushin later falls asleep, to which Miroku first believed he died. However, Mushin explains that it was all a misunderstanding.
