琥珀を使った奈落の罠を犬夜叉達が乗り越えた頃、犬夜叉の変化の秘密を探る殺生丸は、鉄砕牙と天生牙の鞘を削りだした朴の木の妖怪・朴仙翁を訪ねていた。朴仙翁は、犬夜叉が変化を繰り返せば妖怪の血に心を喰われ、ついには戦うだけの化け物になるという。
一方、旅を再開した犬夜叉一行は、老人と少年と知り合うが、その村が野盗に襲われた。犬夜叉と弥勒は、野盗の頭と対決。正体を妖怪と見破る。妖怪・蛾天丸は、毒粉攻撃で犬夜叉を傷つけ、毒繭の中に弥勒と犬夜叉を封じ込めてしまった。
English Summary:
Sesshomaru travels to Bokusen'on, a tree yōkai responsible for constructing the powerful inherited sheaths, who reveals the truth about Inuyasha's demonic transformation. Elsewhere, Inuyasha and his companions are led to a group of bandits terrorizing a nearby village. Inuyasha and Miroku encounter a moth yōkai named Gatenmaru, who traps them in a venomous cocoon, intending to own the Tetsusaiga. However, Inuyasha begins to alter to his yōkai state, once separated from the sword that seals his demonic blood.
